The Amphibian Man is a 1962 Soviet science fiction movie based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Belyaev.[1]

Plot

A boy's life is saved by him being given the gills of a shark, but the consequence of this is that he must now live underwater.

When the boy falls in love with the daughter of a pearl fisherman, he is forced to work for the father under duress, being exploited for his unique set of abilities.

Transhumanist Elements

The main Transhumanist Element in the Amphibian Man is a genetic engineering-like surgery that made a normal man able to breath underwater.
