The Christian Transhumanist Association originated in a small community of people on blogs and online discussion groups in the early parts of 2013. It was legally organized in 2014 and became a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit in 2015.[1]

On July 7th, 2013, Micah Redding published a "Call for Interest in a Christian Transhumanist Association"[2] which was publicized online by Giulio Prisco.[3] 24 people signed the statement of interest, leading to the launch of a discussion group on November 1, 2013. The discussions culminated with formal recognition of the organization's nonprofit status from the state of Tennessee on May 30, 2014.[1]

Some of the founders of the Christian Transhumanist Association include Micah Redding, Lincoln Cannon, Dorothy Deasy and Christopher Benek.[4]

The organisation has been critical of Zoltan Istvan's highly atheistic and anti-theistic rhetoric towards religion.[5]

In August 2018, the Christian Transhumanist Association hosted the first ever Christian Transhumanist Conference on the campus of Lipscomb University, in Nashville, TN. Speakers included Aubrey de Grey, Newton Lee, Blaire Ostler, Neal Locke, and Micah Redding.[6]
