Eray Ozkural

Eray Ozkural is a Turkish AI researcher, entrepreneur, transhumanist and musician who received his PhD in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara. He publishes regularly in the fields of AGI and data mining. Some of his publications may be found on Google Scholar and DBLP. He is the recipient of the 2015 Kurzweil Prize for Best AGI Idea for his theoretical work that proves the physical completeness of Solomonoff Induction and proposes a physical foundation for algorithmic information theory.

He is a contributor to H+ Magazine, where his essays may be found here. He is a strong atheist and a founder of the AI Philosophy mailing list and community since the year 2000, an administrator of the 200K strong Google+ Artificial Intelligence community, and cofounded the Facebook group Scientific Transhumanism.

In a December 14th, 2020 post in the "Transhuman Foundation" Facebook group, where he serves as an administrator, he wrote that "You can never separate religion from fascism. Both are subhuman attitudes we have sworn to ERADICATE. If you do not oppose these repugnant subhumans you are not a transhumanist".[1].

His writings include critiques of transhumanist initiatives including the 2045 Initiative, Humai, the Lifeboat Foundation, MIRI and Zoltan Istvan.[1]

On August 11, 2019, the U.S. Transhumanist Party issued an official statement condemning the behavior of Eray Ozkural for severely insulting members of the U.S. Transhumanist Party.[2]
