Radical futurism is a term taking the broader field of futurism and focusing on scenarios which feature transhumanist elements and narratives.

'Radical' is used as an implied contrast to 'cosmetic' or 'superficial'. 'Radical' involves the potential of deep changes (changes from the root):

  • Changes in human nature
  • Order-of-magnitude changes in the nature of human experience
  • Widespread social collapse, or other existential disasters
  • Humanity no longer being the most generally intelligent species on Earth
