Memory agumentation is an emerging technology whereby either simulated or real memories can be implanted into another persons brain. The reverse of memory implantation is memory removal or memory augmentation.
Some of the benefits of memory implantation include being able to experience things you may not otherwise be able to experience.
Memory removal or augmentation could have benefits for anybody who is suffering with some form of post traumatic stress.
In November 2014 it was reported that 2 scientists had successfully implanted a false memory into a mouse.
Films such as The Matrix, Total Recall, Ghost in the Shell, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Mr Robot and Paycheck are popular scifi tv and films franchises dealing with the complexities of memory augmentation.
