Gennady Stolyarov II, Chairman of the United States Transhumanist Party since November 17, 2016, is pleased to accept the appointment as an organizational representative to the Transhuman National Committee Board of Directors. Since Zoltan Istvan resigned as Chairman, Zoltan no longer has any decision-making role in the Transhumanist Party, although he remains an Advisor and a member. Zoltan wholly supports the endeavor to transition the Transhumanist Party from a largely one-man effort to an organization that will broadly represent the principles and values of the transhumanist and life-extensionist movements.

The Transhumanist Party and the TNC are distinct organizations with distinct purposes, but the Transhumanist Party is happy to maintain close discussions and explore opportunities for collaboration with the TNC wherever our goals may align. The Transhumanist Party’s priority during this transitional period is to create an infrastructure for member-driven activism and the accomplishment of concrete, practical goals on which most transhumanists and life-extension advocates can agree.

The Transhumanist Party Platform will be determined by a vote of the members in early 2017. We will also be holding online expert discussion panels on key areas of emerging technologies, beginning with a panel on artificial intelligence in January 2017. Presently a vote is underway on the adoption of a revised Transhumanist Bill of Rights, whose provisions have been suggested by members during an open exposure period. Members have the ability to rank-order their voting preferences with regard to the wording of each article, allowing for the most accurate reflection of the kinds of provisions and policies that active transhumanists favor.

Later in 2017, once our membership has grown further and a culture of active participation has been established, we will develop a democratic, member-driven governance structure and ultimately hold elections for officers. The goal is for the Transhumanist Party as an organization to grow beyond any single person or small group of individuals and to become a self-sustaining, participatory network that empowers anyone who wishes to advance a techno-positive vision of the future. We seek to be an open, distributed 21st-century organization, rather than a closed, hierarchical 20th-century one.
